Do you want your event to be held in the mountains, by the sea, by a lake, somewhere in the total outback, or perhaps in a city? Think well about what kind of location you need, list all the options, and then it will be time to think about a specific venue. It’s definitely easier to search once you’ve specified and narrowed down your requirements. Having too many options makes it difficult to make a decision. Therefore, after specifying the location, it will come time to search for specific facilities. The Internet can be helpful, as well as contacts with people in the event industry or HORECA. However, as it turns out, searching for several venues is much easier than choosing the one specific one.
How do you decide on an environmentally friendly venue for your event?
Environment and nature are an important part of any event, which is why choosing the right venue is so important. There are a few tips that can make the final decision easier. First, check whether the location has been used for environmentally tinged events before. You can ask the opinion of people who participated in it or were the organizers. Second, find out if there are any green initiatives taking place at the location and what they consist of. Third, find out if the location has a sustainable approach when it comes to energy consumption and other environmental factors. Perhaps it has its own farm, an apiary, a beautiful green area or operates with a zero waste philosophy. Going green in hotels and other event venues is becoming more and more popular.

As an event agency, we try to get to know well in advance the place where we plan to organize something. This was also the case recently. With one of our clients, with whom we have been working for more than 10 years, we traveled around the hotels to choose the right one to hold a large conference. Since we have ecological values ourselves, we were positively surprised by the actions of the hotel, the example of which can serve as an inspiration.
Any of you who have stayed in a hotel at least once are probably familiar with the rule: if a towel is usable, leave it on the rack, and if it needs to be replaced, put it on the floor. Hotels are also increasingly using eco-friendly solutions like shampoo and soap dispensers instead of miniature toiletries.
The Arłamow Hotel, where we recently had the opportunity to visit with our client, deserves special mention for the eco solutions it employs. Already at the very beginning, our attention was caught by numerous announcements, informing people to use the stairs instead of the elevator, to save water, to turn off the lights, to use the same towels for longer. In addition, the hotel itself has implemented many eco-friendly solutions. Among other things, it has its own water intakes, and the property has springs with potable water, which helps reduce plastic bottles. An advanced building automation control system promotes energy and water conservation. An interesting feature is a machine that composts food waste, which is then used in a cogeneration plant to generate energy. This eco hotel also has three photovoltaic farms. Dispensers for cosmetics, or a Butter Spender (a device that cools and dispenses butter) are standard. An in-house greenhouse and apiary allow the production of eco food, which in turn is served to guests of the hotel and restaurant. Below are photos, taken during our visit to the hotel.
